Hey, I'm Dave!
Hello. I'm Dave, and welcome to Austin Eats. For many years, all I could cook were burgers, steaks and hot dogs on a barbecue. Half the time, I burned them to a crisp. Somewhere along the way I realized that I could follow a recipe and cook anything IF there was a picture. Men are visual, what can I say?
After that, I began to cook all kinds of things and fell in love with pizza. Wow, did I make a lot of pizza. When I retired, I moved to Austin, TX and built a wood-fired pizza oven in my backyard. That's when I combined my passion for cooking with my passion for photography, and the Austin Eats YouTube channel and this website were born.
I am not a chef, just a guy who likes to cook for family and friends and take pictures of what I make. While some of my recipes might look complicated and intimidating, I assure you that they are all really quite easy. If you can cut an onion, you can make any recipe on this website. Heck, if this old grandpa can do it, you can do it too. Take a chance and cook something new.

Austin Eats is all about great cooking, Texas-style. That means lots of meat and bold flavors, and all made from scratch with fresh ingredients. There is also a fair amount of fire involved.
